Had a couple of lovely evenings hanging out with Dave Allen in Portland over the years. Lovely gentleman. I still hear his voice so clearly. And what a bass powerhouse. Shocked to hear of his passing.

Playing a festival in Spain, was walking around a corner out of a backstage bathroom and almost ran straight into David Johansen. He must have seen the look of shocked adulation on my face and gave a gracious bow saying, “After you, sir.” It was silly, human and kind. ❤️ All good things.

The New York Dolls were one of those bands whose influence vastly exceeded their record sales. That's why their singer David Johansen needs some help. He's got stage 4 cancer and a brain tumor. Then he broke his back. Maybe you can hoist him a few bucks.
