This is as good as anything on the actual Muppet Show. If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t wait!

Strong start for THE MUPPET SHOW special on ABC/Disney+: 7.58M people watched the reboot within its first eight days of release, as measured by Nielsen+Disney internal data. More importantly, Disney had Kermit cut a social promo bragging about these numbers. Not a series order--but a good sign!

Gonzo is still performed by Dave Goelz, the only member of the original Muppet Show cast who worked on this special. Dave also performs Beauregard – the very first Muppet we saw in this special.

Mo Frackle’s hat is a callback to The Muppet Movie. Mad Man Mooney’s Used Cars is where the gang first met Sweetums. (“Jack not name, jack job!”)

When we recorded our podcast about this episode, we had screeners which were a little hard to see. In high res, we can see details like the hing on the O in the Muppet Show sign that Kermit pops out of.

It feels so good to hear a laugh track and see arm rods.
