My dad, an engineer, would lament how as useful CAD programs are they can actually get in the way of *engineering*. He'd spend increasing amounts of time doing the draftwork himself instead of penciling out roughs to send to a dedicated draftsman and moving on to the next engineering task.

Just finished reading the classic Battletech novel "Ideal War" and while the story was pretty good I don't think I've ever read a book more poorly edited (more on that below). Most of all there's an astonishing difference between how the WoB is portrayed in 1993 compared to post 9/11 (I wonder why)
