I distinctly remember watching a demo (not this video but from Jeff Han's group) in late 2006 and thinking, wow, that's incredible, it's gonna be a decade before we have those. A year later the iPhone was everywhere.

tech-wise, everything has been basically boring and the same ~2009-2025 and now a billion things are all hitting at once. llms, robotics, 3d printing, all this stuff that existed but kinda sucked has all gotten exceptionally powerful faster than you can blink

It's a fantastic product and without context feels surprisingly creative. Definitely also has some stuff it likes to do that are going to be tells that it did a design unless they get ironed out. E.g., zero padded numbers in lists, tiny small caps sub headings in the upper right corner.

Almost nobody is thinking about this clearly. I haven't seen *any* discourse that understands the difference between total bottom-line cost and marginal cost, either. But my guess would be that's a very important dynamic for every big provider right now!

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.
