Winter sown Primula poissonii now germinating. This is a very late flowering primrose with crimson/purple, yellow-eyed flowers born on two foot stalks. Starts flowering in May and prefers damp soils.

Look at how the Stoneyfields Park #CommunityOrchard is getting on! This lovely new community orchard was planted in Barnet, London back in February. Volunteers have been taking excellent care of the trees. Our team returned to the orchard last month to help add some herbs & flowers to the site. 🌱

Hawthorns are a favorite tree of mine. Their thorny branches supply a great place for American Robins to raise a family. This photo is a few years old and recently I found this hawthorn is in decline. I will plant more.

In 2010 I monitored the second bald eagle pair to successfully raise young in Vermont. In the next 3 years they reared 7 eaglets but in the fall of 2012 the nest came down in a storm.

It's our birthday today 🎉 ! We've been bringing orchards to urban spaces for the past 17 years, sometimes this meant carrying fruit trees through busy cities! We started as the London Orchard Project in 2009, and soon branched out to spread the joy of community orcharding to cities across the UK.

White Pine planted by my father in 1956. This tree has seen many heavy wet snowfalls and ice storms. And still she stands.

These two pictures were taken exactly a year apart (May 12th 2017 and May 12th 2018). After my friend lost her lovely old apple tree it has sent up a sucker that we will graft onto.

Here in Germany you see it in many places. Still it is available and quite vigorous. I was one of the first roses (as e.g. 'Peace', 'The Queen Elizabeth Rose', 'Tropicana', 'Maigold', 'The Fairy', 'Iceberg'), I recognized as an early Teenager when I started a main topic of my life: Gardening.
