Ultimates 7 #NCBD My one Marvel book lol. I don’t really have much to say other than this series continues to be really great and it's nice to sort of slow down after last issue. I'm only vaguely aware of Jim Hammond so I liked getting a moment with him, or this version at least

Absolute Superman 2 #NCBD Themes of AI here are depressingly funny. I think even tho the first issue had a really strong set up for many ideas, this issue is where the rubber meets the pavement. Aaron builds the ideas as we learn more about this Kal and Lois. The panel composition is *chefs kiss*

Poison Ivy 28 #NCBD Wilson continues to set up future plot threads for the year. It might be jarring that Ivy doesn’t want to take advantage of a pop-up army but I think the fact that she doesn’t want to be used and she wants to be able to live her own life for a bit makes sense. /1

Batgirl 2 #NCBD Cassandra Cain my beloved. Oh my god this was amazing. I think all the little things I couldn’t quite vibe with in #1 clicked this issue, I am ALL IN. The art, the writing, hell even the structure. And the moment at the end is heartbreaking.

One thing I want to really call out is how cool the lettering is for this book. @claytoncowles.bsky.social did an amazing job this issue, (but he always does tbh). y'all should go buy this issue for real

Birds of Prey 16 #NCBD BOP remains a really fun title – it’s been kinda refreshing seeing Cass undercover, I really like how Thompson’s been writing her. The mystery is revealed and while it’s basically in line with what I expected, Thompson does a great job balancing characterization and action.

JSA 2 #NCBD There’s a lot happening in this book with very little explanation. Ironically I think this is also what gave me trouble with John’s JSA run. I like the JSA but it always feels like I’m missing years of context for everything no matter what

Wonder Woman Earth One is a... well it's an interesting book. Many Controversial Elements. One element that really worked for me was Etta and the Holliday Girls. Etta is Bold. Proud. Funny. Takes no one's shit. And the Girls, they show Diana's impact and embody the change she brings to the world.
