MAYBE, if tech companies had an ounce of ethical concern for creatives when they had gone into this and worked out something that pays creatives a fair sum or residuals for their work in training data, MAYBE it could have been a legitimate tool for something, but that's not the world we live in.

Listen, the use of genAI should be a non-starter, imo. its based largely on theft, for which many an artist, writer, musician, you name it, will never see a dime. The environmental impact is terrible, but even if they sorted it out its just wrong from the get go.
