This Diwali tradition is very unique to maharashtra. Every year there are numerous Diwali special magazines coming out. Some are printing since the last 75-80 years and are a must read every diwali. Some are new, 10-5 year old publications trying out new experiments.

I’ve been interested in Arabic lettering design and was wondering if it could be expressed in urushi. Just then, the latest issue of the Japanese design magazine idea turned out to be a special feature on Arabic calligraphy — so I bought it right away!
