I am fading off to sleep but am thinking about how many of the ills of the world emerge from this insistence of both flattening everything and reducing gray areas, which are two symptoms of insisting that everything just be fast.

Update: the tenants in this case have asked for a preliminary injunction to keep their housing past August of this year. I’m in court today as lawyers argue the case and tenants testify. Follow along for more.

I'm sorry, but I just think it's very telling when we differentiate between ICE's killing of American citizens versus undocumented immigrants. And I'm seeing that a lot right now.

Muting today's threads because believe it or not, it's actually quite exhausting and hurtful to have to argue that undocumented immigrants' lives are also valuable and meaningful and that their killings by federal immigration agents should also serve as "flashpoints" in the U.S.

As a reporter, I see the process of dehumanization regularly. I see how government agencies, law enforcement, elected officials, and media twist beautiful parts of people to build a public narrative that excuses their unjust treatment, or justifies their murder. But it’s still very painful to watch.
