The National Police Chiefs’ Council said policing had taken “significant action” on misconduct, vetting and values, but “we know there is more for us to do and further for us to go”.

One of the women told me, “I thought it was a disgusting insult to every victim but most of all to Sarah’s name”

Others were pressured to report even though they had little faith their allegations would be taken seriously and thought their perpetrators might retaliate. One was told she “owed it to Sarah Everard” to report the abuser she was terrified of and had moved 200 miles to escape from

One rape victim handed over her devices for the investigation into her partner but later found they’d trawled through years of data “because Wayne Couzens had been in offensive WhatsApp groups before he murdered Sarah Everard”

One victim was revetted & removed from frontline duties because of a false counter-complaint her abuser had made. He never appeared to be revetted. Another was sent on a sexual harassment training course when her stalker made a false allegation because “we have to record an action for every report”

I find this sickening, tbh. The claim that simply being in the presence of a trans woman creates a “a hostile, humiliating and degrading environment” for cis women could not be more transphobic* if it tried. *Literally: showing discrimination against, aversion to, or fear of, transgender people
