Amen, and also true of sex research. Both fields act as if the goal is to overcome the glittering allure of pleasure to prevent (real, important) risks, without deeply understanding & honoring those pleasures.

Wonderful news for reproductive health. Even if infusions were only as good as oral tabs, this would be good: oral iron causes nausea (already a prob in pregnancy) and one-time infusions are much easier to roll out & track than daily pill use. So infusions having *better* outcomes? 🤩

There is a human tissue that builds itself up and breaks itself down every 28 days (on average) using non-scarring wound healing and instead of studying that and learning everything we can about it we think it's gross and look for other less relevant models to understand wound healing.

Fascinating read. The idea of “we reify syndromes when we say someone is hyperactive because of their ADHD, not that we characterize their hyperactivity within the concept of ADHD” nicely describes my squidginess with categorical diagnostic systems for mental health.

A fantastic thread. Internment is a horror no matter how long it goes - and, I can’t imagine how bad it could get when the rationale for internment is diffuse & without definitive end - no specific war to point to and thus no clear ceasefire.

Bluesky academics, lets get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea you aren’t working on but keep thinking about 1) women’s current sexual dysfunction -> future CVD? 2) how different emotions cue the immune system to anticipate different challenges
