I think one of my favorite parts of lurking in niche internet communities is seeing people get hype as fuck for something that is so, so small. The fandom which celebrates fic releases and alts of forgotten characters is truly *my* kind of fandom.

The best way to "revive" a fandom or even keep it alive is to interact with fanworks already created, and appreciate any new bits of artwork and fanfics currently being made. Or even make something yourself? What doesn't help is expecting a conveyer belt of new stuff to catch your attention

I don't know who needs to hear this, but your creative interpretation of a character adds diversity and value to your fandom. your take on a character is as valid as anyone else's. don't put stock in anyone who tells you how to express your ideas and enjoy your fandom experience.
