pinned post!
New story! I wrote (yet again) about ASL students, romantic relationships, and the uncertainty that arises when someone starts to learn a language after meeting you. I'm grateful to

for giving it space.

Nisi Shawl is one of my favorite writers, a queer elder & a BIPOC icon. I hate that the state of publishing is such that the book of their dreams would struggle to find a home, but I love that we as a community can come together to make it happen!! Give/boost as you're able? đ

And since I just saw it again in replies to an article I re-posted I'm tapping this sign. There is nothing moral or immoral about mental illness. Enacting evil or believing in atrocious things is not a sign of mental illness. Don't call someone mentally ill when you mean they are a bad person.

People take âwrite what you knowâ too literally, and thatâs why they hate it. Take what is core to your personâyour deepest beliefs, emotions, and experiencesâand filter those things through the prism of fiction. THAT is writing what you know, not âIâm an attorney, so I can only write legal drama.â

Some people don't feel as close to this as they ought to. Most of us are just a bad break or two away from winding up on the streets, and addiction & mental health crises can affect anyone. They're gutting services and rendering more of us disposable, and there's a carceral disposal system waiting.
