Yesterday, my daughter referred to In 'n' Out animal style fries as "California poutine", and now it will forever be called that in my household.

It's been 3 months but I finally got through posting the recordings from our QIST in the CSU workshops. The recordings don't do the discussions justice. Hopefully, these are useful to folks interested in learning #quantum info science and tech and get it in their courses.

Today for shits and giggles, I took a BNC cable Jerry-rigged a loop out of it and plugged it into a scope to see what I'd pick up in my lab. What the hell would cause this? Like a clock, every 4 seconds jumps amplitude. The underlying signal is ~171 kHz #noise #science

#quantum mechanics class had fun measuring single-photon interference today! We got some of the @thorlabs.bsky.social quantum optics kits through a grant earlier this year. Considering I previously had 0 experience with optics, how easy we were able to successfully setup two kits makes me happy.

I had minor surgery today which meant I couldn't take the 7yo to hockey this afternoon. Apparently, he told my wife he "can't go to hockey today because daddy's going to be on drugs" I mean, he's not wrong, but I hope he explained it better to anyone he may have told at school.

Happy world quantum day to all who celebrate. Don't get sucked into the commercialisation that has taken over the holiday and focus on the true meaning of the holiday... making silly jokes about dead cats, objects being two things at once, and measurement. None of which are actually funny
