Dr. Elmer Samuel Imes (1883–1941) was a pioneering physicist. His work in quantum theory helped expand opportunities for future scientists. He became the second Black American to earn a PhD in physics in 1918. His work continues to influence today’s photonics industry. #BlackHistoryMonth
