station specialising in the arts run by the London Musicians' Collective
(LMC). It aims to provide a radical alternative to mainstream
broadcasting, and features programmes made by musicians, artists
and critics who represent the diversity of London’s arts scenes, with
regular weekly contributions from nearly 200 musicians, artists,
thinkers, critics, and activists.
Resonance FM offers London over 100 regular weekly broadcasts, while Resonance
EXTRA reaches out on small-scale DAB to Brighton & Hove, Cambridge, London and
Norwich. Resonance also attracts listeners worldwide by the web - over 700,000 last year
in over 100 countries. All this relies on volunteer broadcasters: their contributions have
garnered Resonance the prestigious Gold Award as Audio UK's "Network of the Year" for
two years running. In 2006 the station was nominated for "The Community Award" by the
Sony Radio Academy Awards, and has won the Radio Academy Nations and Regions
Award for London for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011. Resonance is
currently fund-raising to equip their new broadcast studio near London Bridge - and to
stay afloat in this difficult time for the arts.
Luke Haines
Luke has recorded music under various names and with various bands, including The
Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder. Haines formed The Auteurs in
1991, and they were nominated for a Mercury Prize. Soon after, Haines formed solo side
project called Baader-Meinhof named after the German far-left terrorist group. Haines
formed Black Box Recorder with John Moore and Sarah Nixey. Recently, Haines and
Peter Buck, formerly of R.E.M., collaborated on an album, Beat Poetry for Survivalists,
which was released in 2020.
David Lance Callahan
Former singer with The Wolfhounds and 90s ‘post-rock’ innovators Moonshake, David
Lance Callahan has also toured and collaborated with PJ Harvey, Stereolab and My
Bloody Valentine, and played at Lollapalooza and All Tomorrow’s Parties. Over the last
few years, he has pursued a well-received solo career, writing and performing spooked
social commentary, accompanied by his unique guitar style. His two solo LPs so far –
English Primitive I and II – have seamlessly mixed folk, blues, West African, Arabic and
post-punk influences to produce a distinctive blend. His recently released LP – Down to
the Marshes – adds a horn section, string quartet and musical saw to the recipe.
Jowe Head and Infernal Trinity
Jowe Head (aka Stephen Bird) is a British guitarist, singer, and visual artist, was a founder
member of Swell Maps. He has also released a large amount of material as a solo artist
and as band-leader or collaborator in various groups. After Swell Maps broke up in 1980,
he embarked on a solo career, and also performed with Television Personalities, The
Palookas, The Househunters, Angel Racing Food, Eleventh Hour Adventists, the Demi-
Monde, Rude Mechanicals, and Infernal Contraption. His current projects are Swell
