I've been saying for a while that Montreal has good transit if you live on the Metro, bad transit if you live on an STM bus, and some of the worst transit in Canada off-island. Part of it is funding, but part of it is a really bad use of resources that starves off-peak service to chase commuters.

Unpopular(?) opinion but I don't love it when politicians can sue for defamation—we get into murky waters where courts arbitrate truth in politics and the threat of litigation chills speech. Much prefer the US rule where public figures functionally waive all but the most perfunctory right to sue.

BCT had requested a 15k hour expansion for Vic to *maintain* service levels due to increasing congestion. In denying expansion, and actually cutting, the province has made clear that Transit isn't a core service and that they are fine with seeing service quality degrade. So much for Climate goals.
