Not sure if you can answer this or maybe one of your readers can help- so let’s say a 10 year old gets arrested, goes through all the horror of being detained, is released, no charges. How might that affect future opportunities. I know records are supposed to be secret before 18, but is it really?

After Renee Good's killing, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem vowed to send hundreds more federal agents. Arrests rose dramatically then dipped. After federal agents killed Alex Pretti, arrests followed a similar pattern. By mid-February, fewer than a dozen people were being arrested each day. (7)

During the active Operation Metro Surge, federal agents arrested an average of about 33 people a day. About 30 of those arrested were age 16 and under. One of the arrests involved a child who was just two or three years old. A handful were over 70 years old. (4)

Federal officials said in public statements during the surge that they were targeting the "worst of the worst." The new data shows that fewer than a quarter of those arrested in Minnesota had a criminal conviction on their record. The vast majority were arrested for civil immigration violations. (2)

Another important detail is 35% of the arrests were "collateral" rather than targeted. That means these are folks that federal agents swept up at bus stops and sidewalks as they roved the streets. That jibes with anecdotes but doesn't factor for all the "collateral" people caught and released. (3)
