The US is cutting its funding for Gavi, an organization that has undoubtedly saved the lives of millions of children by scaling up vaccine access and introducing new vaccines to routine immunization programs. This cut will put millions of kids' lives, and global public health, at risk. 🧵

Earlier this week, we were told some of our programs were terminated in error. But we cannot restart our programming until we receive payment for the work that has already been done, which to-date exceeds $5m. We are calling on leaders to release funding so we can get back to work.

We cannot overstate this – antiretroviral treatment (ART) is lifesaving! For children living with HIV, access to treatment means reaching their next birthday. Children’s health cannot wait! We must restore these lifesaving services.

Since February 26, an additional 1,322 adults (from 14,482 to 15,804) and 141 infants (from 1,541 to 1,682) have died as a consequence of a single frozen USAID program.
