Got a first draft of it done - three pages, some good Ellen/Volta/Carmen shenanigans. It's workable, I think; a bit of polish and it'll be snappy enough to justify its own existence, and a couple of references to Vixie Book 1 stuff that'll come into play much more in Vix's story than Ellen's.

One thing I like to do as a writer is sneak in lines that could be references to like three different things, depending on whether you're autistic about video games, world history, or some other nonsense, but still have it be relevant to the story like this bit! what happened in 1964? lotsa stuff!

It's a bit of a writing challenge, but I have an idea for the start of Book 2 to catch new readers up to the present and shake the dust off for Book 1 readers:
