The relentless gaslighting of autistic experience

If I go quiet with friends, it isn’t because I’m off doing loads of lovely and exciting stuff. It’s usually because I’m exhausted and burned out. I find it really hard to keep in touch, because that would mean admitting I’m not ok. I’m often just doing my best to keep my head above water.
