Today I learned that Godot can generate an atlas out of individual .png's automatically! This is .,~amazing~,. for the performance of 2D games with many sprites, because the draw calls to the GPU can be batched into a single draw call if the sprites reference the same texture. #godotengine

Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero. Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone. I hope this video clears that up.

This time I ran out of tokens in 1.5 hours .. besides basic #gamedev question I started parallel session for it to try and fix 1 error in my nvim configs about markdown... It just ate them all! Note to myself: be veeeery specific and strict when asking him to check lua configs!

Making CCG #game using #godot. Went for Event Sourcing. After talking to GPT, it suggested having RuleEngine that returns Array[Event]. Then you just apply those events. After some struggles and more questions I went for RuleEngine.on_event(event, game_state) -> Event. And how you do it, #gamedev?

Found one issue with general event sourcing: I can not pick a card from a deck, then shuffle, then pick more as it requires actually to apply "DeckShuffled" event before. Will make it "reactive" and apply events one by one so it could produce more events if needed.

Today I wrapped up the core phase loop for my robot CCG: Init → Draw → Planning → Aftermath → Upkeep → Draw All powered by event sourcing — super flexible and already paying off. Adding and tweaking phases is fast and painless. Really satisfying to see the architecture decisions click this early 🚀

The more I talk to LLM the more I think of them as a rubber duck! I just produce architectural ideas and raise my concerns and then figure and rate them out. Helps to structure thoughts in your head. Now I see clearer how I want my game code to be.
