Latinos make up nearly 1 in 5 people in the U.S. and have longer life expectancy than average, but that “survival advantage” masks health disparities. New research by Anne Pebley & Noreen Goldman explores why. Read more:

Professor Jennie Brand and collaborator receive Russell Sage Foundation Grant – California Center for Population Research
CCPR Faculty Fellow, Professor Jennie Brand, and UCLA alumna XI Song (Columbia University) received a grant from the Russell Sage Foundation for their project “Occupational Restructuring, Job Displacement, and Worker Mobility.” Their project will evaluate how restructuring U.S. occupations affects workers’ opportunities and career trajectories in an era of technological change. They will construct a database of occupational restructuring to systematically classify and analyze new and declining forms of work by evaluating their short- and long-term employment change; conduct a historical analysis of the impact of occupational restructuring on intergenerational mobility over the second half of the twentieth century; and lastly, they will assess contemporary risk and vulnerability of workers to occupational restructuring with attention to jobs affected by AI.
