Andy Burnham won by more than 9,000 votes - a huge margin. Another Labour candidate would have been smashed. He's won because voters think he'll offer a radical break. He has to prove, basically, he's not Starmerism with a Northern accent.

Inequality is killing us. Healthy life expectancy gap between poor and rich is nearly 20 years. Govts cuddle fiscal rules, but no targets for healthcare, poverty reduction, better housing, environment or income distribution. Tackling inequalities must be a legal obligation.

Because Russia is economically and conventional-militarily weak, and if a war with Russia had expanded and escalated enough to require UK involvement it would have passed the stage of existential for them.

He can't even beat Ukraine. If we ever go to war with Russia it'll be nuclear and then we're fucked, so we may as well spend money on a happy and healthy society until then.

Besides this, procurement needs to be changed so it isn't a money sink, and the whole MoD needs changing so it doesn't waste so much money. Throwing more cash at it... you may as well set the money on fire! And where and when are we going to use these resources given Russia is a phantom threat?

Today I asked the Mayor about the growing anxiety and uncertainty being felt by so many Trans Londoners following the publication of the EHRC’s revised Code of Practice. When trust feels fragile, I wanted to know what conversations he's had with Government to stand up for Trans Londoners.

When they say 'defence' they mean weapons don't they? Let's not make enemies. I wonder how many of those advocating more money on 'defence' are involved in the arms industry?
