Anecdotal evidence but during one of my Rochdale trips I was struck by 1) the amount of construction (money is being spent there) and 2) the amount of out-of-town workers who had to be brought in to do the work (my hotel was packed with construction / skilled workers)

How to interpret this kind of data/findings. Reminds me of conversations with US academics faced with funding cuts, they point to endowments and "ballooning" leadership salaries as the problem/solution. Are these types of attitudes a challenge (they have an effect) or a symptom of fiscal imbalances?

Underappreciated 2024 trend: Relative dropoff in Dem vs Rep turnout among younger reg. voters. Easy to mistake this as a swing right but it’s turnout. If young Dems matched Rep turnout rates, they’d have netted 2.5-3.5M votes—might not have flipped election but likely would’ve swung popular vote.
