It's kind of mind boggling that two weeks ago we thought we were about to lose Umma and today you wouldn't know anything had happened. She could still use a little weight and needs a tad more strength, but those are only things we notice - no one else would.

Invoking the Insurrection Act for something that doesn’t exist should be grounds for removing him from office if the federal government was functioning. But it’s not, so it’ll make Portland ground zero. Will Oregon stand its ground? Or will it roll over?

After last weekend's visit to the ER vet - and the bill - the fact that almost half of Americans can't afford an unexpected expense of $400 makes me really, really sad. Most of the time you don't get out of the vet for less than that when it's NOT an emergency.

When Umma came home from the ER after the rodenticide poisoning, we got a 30-day supply of Vitamin K to help. One 50mg pill, twice a day with a meal. She is usually very good about pills and when we try and hide them she'll side eye us and eat it anyway, like it's a shared joke.

We have acquired our Umma! A little drugged up, but light years better than yesterday morning and now sleeping. 30 days of Vitamin K pills and low activity, then she goes for a clotting test. Assuming that goes okay, we do a spay.

Great news! Umma is coming home soon! Vitals remained steady overnight and she ate food. 30 days of Vitamin K pills to help clean her blood of the rodenticide, then schedule a spay.

Umma update! It seems that it was rat poison. She’s being treated and responding well, but staying at the vet overnight. Great news! Apparently rat poison can look like bird seed suet! 😱

ER vet is not where I wanted to spend my Friday morning, but here we are. Umma ate a bird seed suet thing some animal dropped in our yard. 😭 She threw it up, but has been not eating since. Hopefully will be getting better here soon.

To be fair, living in the Pac NW it’s quite possible they had never seen a coconut before.

I have a slightly different take on Trump saying NATO should shoot down any Russian incursions and saying Ukraine can win back all their territory. I mean, I hope it's true, I want both things to be true, but if NATO is having to defend itself will it be as willing to help Ukraine?

I think one of the most confusing things for me about this administration is most of these jagoffs - Patel, Vance, Carr, Vought - are roughly the same age as me. Our lives to this point have apparently been vastly different. So different it’s in comprehensible to me.
