Tour de Fleece week two! 6.5 oz of...sport-ish weight? Maybe DK? Yarn, anyway! (Someone teach me how WPI works please, it's so arbitrary.) I promise that's a different hank of Rambouillet/Columbia, and the blue is a blend of Romney, Romeldale CVM, and llama I carded up myself!

Week one of Tour de Fleece got me 7oz of fingering weight yarn! 3oz naturally colored Rambouillet/Columbia (combed top from Leaf Livestock) in a 3 ply, and 4oz Polworth (hand-dyed braid from FatCatKnits) in a 2ply. More of the grey this week, and hopefully some hand-carding experiments!

Tour de Fleece starts tomorrow, but I’m planning a fairly boring spin, so here’s a peek at the warmup spinning I’ve been doing. I’ve named the Turkish spindle ‘Mert,’ and I think the finished yarn will be called ‘How do you make brown?’

The fact that the universe has created a situation where this sort of qualifier is necessary is just ridiculous. (The fact the two Max Muncys share a birthday is truly unacceptable, who writes this stuff?)

Thanks again for everything, England. I saw so many friends and saw so many comedians and nearly broke my museum curse and lightly explored your West Country and only had two meals from Pret because I had adult supervision this go around and (arguably) met a robin for the first time!

My new hobby is watching Uber drivers fail at finding the 110 North. I'm 3 for 2 this year. (Tonight's driver missed the freeway twice, narrowly caught herself on the third try, and thankfully avoided both the last-resort roundabout of doom and Dodger Stadium on game night at 9pm.)

I've just gotten into Banana Ball, and in this game I've seen 4 people steal 1st, a dude hit for the cycle, a lady pitching, a "Beat It" dance off, a Mr. T man-anana cheerleader, and a light saber bat. If the Dodgers visit the White House I'm converting 100% to this pristinely whimsical sport.

I love baseball. Especially when it’s all poetical.

If you ever find yourself wanting to feel like the most powerful person alive, I highly recommend buying a massive 1kg cone of yarn and knitting an all-over cabled sweater. In this case, the Book Club Pullover. Bonus points if you ladder down and re-twist a few cables.

Update on the stress knitting. It is Jan 10 and this is all the knitting I’ve started since Christmas. Everything’s going FINE. (I did find my US4 tips in the dumbest possible way, which is something.)

I'm normally a pretty monogamous knitter, but given the state of...everything, I've got enough WIPs going that I've somehow lost my US size 4 interchangeable needle tips in my 400 sq ft home just when I need to stress-knit-at-1am-during-a-bullshit-military-invasion the most.

Just a reminder to my fellow SoCal-ers that if you're driving in the rain – especially the sort of atmospheric river that might, I don't know, flood your aunt and uncle's house Christmas Day – turn on your headlights please for the love of everything.

Tuesday I saw Tim Key’s Loganberry and it was predictably incredible. Tonight I saw the Horne Sections’s Hit Show and it was predictably ridiculous. God I love baseball.

I hate baseball.

Well, I’ve stress-eaten the last of the Hula Hoops I smuggled home from London in June, guess it’s time for another visit! Added bonus: there’s significantly less baseball in the UK to stress me out!

Yesterday the air was so thick I could barely see the San Gabriel mountains. It’s currently 90 degrees and 20% humidity, the ball is going to FLY tonight. (That means a quick and easy ballgame tonight, right fellas?!)

Time to think about something other than Game 3 of the World Series, but something almost as ridiculous: another No More Jockeys comic! In this one we try out new drinking vessels and learn how to measure liquid volume (but not how to sterilize things).

I love baseball. But this is too much baseball.
