Hi all. ❤️ thanks for reaching out. I’m sad about FPC still, but I’m coping. I am looking for work! I’m interested in Head of Community/Comms roles for teams who want to build strong and lasting communities. I’ve done Creator programs, PR, Brand, Social, Corporate comms mgmt - you name it!

Adventures in terrain generation from a heightmap using #godot. The two big issues I'm having are: - Stitching chunk geometry to neighbors; need to work out some way to generate a border based on the LOD of the neighboring chunk. - Averaging the normals so it stops looking like an evil quilt.

The best thing about being a developer is naming your test cases after celebrities.

I've reported the issue, but as of Blender 4.5.1 it has not been fixed :/

Finding my own brain very frustrating. Randomly in the middle of the month, after 6-7 weeks of being totally creatively dead, my dopamine switch is back in the right spot and I'm feeling motivated to work on a project. Just... none of the existing outstanding projects, a brand new one. Augh.

Not a great month for working on projects. Got a little bit done on the current Vangers-esque project but fell down a rabbit hole trying to generate geometry instead of just drawing tiles. Travelling for two weeks as of Monday, so will see if I get time for project stuff before EOM.

#silksong thoughts: - I have only known the Bell Beast for an evening but if anything happens to him I will kill everything in this kingdom and then myself. - Did I get bad at video games in the last 7 years or is Silksong much harder than HK? - Please god no more ants. I've fought enough ants.

I spent 45 minutes with silksong and these are my first impressions: is this real? Events appear to transpire beyond some sort of barrier or screen I cannot influence aside from pressing buttons on my "side" of the dividing medium, but if these bugs are really doing all that it should be on the news

My Real Job has picked up. so progress on the August project has been slow. I've got Github/Itch build automation setup (with thanks to Apos on the Monogame Discord) and I've been polishing the background art a bit. Finding the dither brush in Krita saved my hands... #monogame #gamedev #indiedev

Jesus Christ the vocal delivery in I Am Your Beast is something else. The music is like being punched in the head (positive) and the gameplay is like punching other people in the head. Very very glad I picked it up.

Redid most of the character states (still working on the failure state), added music, added sounds, and generally tweaked and adjusted things. Settings menu is also about halfway coded, since I need to build a UI framework as I go. Steady progress! #monogame #gamedev #indiedev

The problem with getting things to the point of being playable is that I keep going to test something and then spend 20 minutes playing it instead. Lots of backend work done today to support things like menus, game modes, etc. Pleased with how it's coming together. #gamedev #indiedev #monogame

Took the day off sick and spent all of it tinkering with mechanics for my August project. On the positive side it looks and feels a lot more like an actual playable game now, but on the negative side I didn't actually chill out at all and I'm back at work tomorrow. Choices have been made.

Repost due to busted video. Four days in on my August project. It's great when things start feeling like an actual game. Next up, an input handler to control what drops, rotate it, etc. Also need to clean up the board state to avoid weird visual issues across iterations. #gamedev #monogame

My love for godot has reached a level where I feel comfortable yelling at it. This is an important stage in any relationship to a piece of software, and absolutely healthy / not indicative of anything bad in my character.

Watching itch.io implode over the last week made me remember when indie games were .exe files made by a stranger that you downloaded from a self-hosted website that still used <marquee>. If handling money wasn't such a nightmare it wouldn't be so bad to go back to that. Platforms delenda est, etc.
