I understand the intention, but transparency is essential. If users are effectively invisible to everyone, they should at least be notified. Otherwise, it feels deceptive. People keep posting, thinking they’re part of the conversation, when they’re not. That kind of silent moderation breaks trust.

Which is essentially a shadow ban, if they don’t get notified of the ban. Also there’s another content flag ‘’!needs-review” or something like that which also hides posts and replies without much feedback for the user. So you’ll see a post with 4 replies but only 3 visible. Very confusing!

my other account was shadowbanned without notice. my posts were invisible to others. after i questioned this lack of transparency, the account was fully suspended. i’ve done nothing wrong. this is arbitrary, unfair, and shows how broken moderation is here.

so... I used @mackuba.eu's excellent Label Scanner, and I think I found what's causing this: a 'needs-review' label from @moderation.bsky.app (first time I've seen this) if this isn't shadowbanning, I have to say it looks an awful lot like it 🧐 please explain @pfrazee.com @aaron.bsky.team
