Writer life is being like "huh, maybe I need to do more research on this topic", sneezing, then suddenly having a library hold list 5 months long filled exclusively with books on that topic

Surveys like this are so important. But am I the only one who feels context is missing? What are our industry diversity *targets*? Are we aiming to represent minorities proportional to the U.S.'s overall population? I can't tell how well we're doing on that front because there's no comparison.

I really wish I, a Black woman and someone who’s continuously experiencing Black girlhood, could get put onto illo jobs about the many joys and wonders of Black girlhood/womanhood that I see so many non Black women illustrators being offered and hit up to do. Just a lingering thought.

Whether you've seen this, or not, it is a thing of real magic.

I love being a writer I love the act of creation I love telling stories I love leaving my teeny little mark on the world through making art. I love making this love letter to being alive and human.
