Following the publication of the so-called “transparency template” by @ec.europa.eu AI Office on 24 July, most #AI model providers will be required to publish summaries of training data as of 2 August 2025. But these templates still does not meet the expectations of the media and creative sectors 👇

❌ We see the recently published GPAI Code of Practice, the GPAI Guidelines, and the Template for disclosure of a sufficiently detailed summary as a missed opportunity to provide real protection of IP rights in the context of #genAI. This outcome does not deliver on the promise of the EU AI Act.

Organizations representing millions of creators & rights holders have said the EU’s Code of Practice on AI is “completely unacceptable.” The Code of Practice outlines how the AI Act should be implemented. But creators reject it because: 🧵

"Transparency enables the exercise of rights, helps to hold tech companies accountable, informs public debate, and allows for oversight of this emerging technology without interfering with its development. In short, we cannot hope to govern AI without better transparency." Yep, that's it.

Great too to see creators in the EU supporting Majors in this, but there is a limit. Support cannot remain unconditional indefinitely.
