#Europe: 2025 was a disastrous year for journalists. Based on EFJ affiliate reports, 149 journalists will spend New Year’s Eve in prison. We urgently demand their release. Our thoughts are also with all journalists who have been brutally killed in the course of their work and with their families.

#Serbia: EFJ condemns the arrest and apartment search of KTV journalist Dikić, also endangering his sources. EFJ urgently calls for a review of the legal basis & proportionality of the measures deemed disproportionate. The incident follows a smear campaign against him by pro-government tabloids.

We call for urgent prosecution of the threats, as delays increase the risk to journalists' safety.
