The rise and Hindenbergian fall of the SOS FB & PAC has been bewildering. Since the PAC endorsement meltdown, a few of the more vocal members have said “I’ve been following politics for the last 2 years…” as their qualifying bona fide but summarily dismiss the POV of those with whom they disagree.

The W4SC member was bloviating all over the South Street listserve today about an op-ed in the Gazette. His response to the piece being shared was a 659/16 paragraph journey to the center of his own naval. Some of his neighbors/constituents pushed back on his mischaracterization of colleagues.

Over in SOSville, one person writes passionately in favor of Stein's accomplishments on SC. In response, someone asks whether it is acceptable for a sitting SC member to have children in school outside of NPS. This is actually an interesting question for a few reasons.

Fellas, this OP is complaining about "inequity" because NHS seniors have reserved parking spots while kids on IEPs struggle. 1) those are unrelated 2) it's probably a fundraiser for the senior class and 3) OP once suggested that SVAHS have their program & budget cut to be more equitable with NHS.

An interesting FB pattern has emerged in recent months. The former SOSers who split after the PAC schism have started brigading the City of Northampton FB page, but not every post.

Excited for the preliminary election tomorrow. On the political gossip side, very excited for the Rumplestiltskin-level meltdowns that are likely to occur with SOS candidate/W3C candidate losses. On the human side, excited for the possibility of politics to be normal again.

Disinformation is dangerous because there’s no adequate way to retract it once it’s out there. It’s deliberately designed to cultivate powerful emotions (outrage, disgust, resentment, anxiety, etc) and those emotions don’t just disappear even when a person is told their feelings are based on lies.
