Rode to the new stations with my 6 year old yesterday - a quick ride from Little Tokyo with a transfer at Metro Center - and the joy was palpable. It also cemented my belief in working towards zero fare public transit for LA. We have to make a train ride for a fam of 4 cheaper than parking.

I follow about 60 people on Letterboxd and I'd say their tastes fall into three categories. 1. Wow, they watch a lot of good films, just like me. 2. Huh, they only watch mass market, wide release films. 3. Man, they like a lot of crap.

Note: Virginia supreme court justices are "re-elected" by state lawmakers, meaning the legislature chooses whether to reappoint them or replace them. Two of the four justices in the majority today against the new congressional map will be "up" by early 2028.

Holy shit!! This is huge! We co-presented ultra rare 35mm screenings in 2015 at the Grand Illusion Cinema, and never thought this would happen. At the time, WB was still so uptight about THE DEVILS that they wouldn’t even allow BFI to release a blu-ray.

A huge thing to the credit of Ted Turner: he was widely criticized for his dumb and stupid classic movie colorization scheme and instead of doubling down and crashing out over the negative publicity, he listened to the criticism and launched Turner Classic Movies.

Good example of how stupid the conservative intellectual interpretation of 20th century US history is; in the 1960s there was a beautiful, brave, heroic movement to end racism which completely succeeded by 1965, at which point the activists all instantly became race-communists and welfare queens.
