Today West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway enter public ownership. That means that from today half of all rail journeys that will fall under GBR’s remit are operated by publicly owned companies. #OnTrackForPublicOwnership

The Railways Bill enters its Committee Stage tomorrow; it's the first major opportunity for the public to influence the Bill. Along with The Association of British Commuters & @bringbackbr.bsky.social.org we urge the committee to address the biggest hurdle to real rail reform: Competition Law.

This week the Railways Bill – which will establish Great British Railways (GBR) – enters its Committee stage in Parliament. But the Bill maintains much of the competition framework from the 1993 Railways Act, which was responsible for the fragmentation and inefficiencies of the privatisation era.
