Sad news today as the historic former railway bridge over the River Spey at Garmouth has partly collapsed into the river. It can no longer be crossed, which means that the Moray Coast Trail cannot now be completed in full. Thanks to Rachael Millar for providing the photos. //contd

Despite the dire weather forecast we all had a fantastic trip to Glen Doll. The wind and rain weren't as bad as expected on Saturday and the hut was warm & cosy. Great company and good food too! Thanks to Carn Dearg MC for such a great hut! Our next weekend trip is 16-18 Jan to Crianlarich.

Our next trip is to Glen Doll, in the Angus Glens area of the #Cairngorms National Park. Our trip in 2018 was one of glorious blue skies one day and misty with snow falling the next - it's a great area to explore! We have a programme of monthly weekend trips for 2026 - why not join us?

A blast of the Arctic in the #Cairngorms on our trip to Milehouse at Kincraig last weekend. Good to practise using a group shelter before we went - fortunately didn't need it! A fantastic day for everyone who went up Sgor Gaoithe or Mullach Clach a'Bhlair, but pretty challenging too! ❄️❄️

Come on ScotGov, this is unforgivable - and stupid! Funding for paths, etc, has always been part of the agricultural funding farmers could bid for, since 2005. It’s a tiny proportion of the overall farming budget. If land managers can’t get £££, why should they pay for this public good themselves? 😡

We're off to the #Cairngorms for our next trip, 14-16 Nov to Milehouse hut, Kincraig. This is a regular November destination - shorter days & mixed weather, but we've still had some great walks. We have monthly weekend trips, non-members are welcome to come on a trip before joining the club.

We braved the chilly wind and rain last Sunday and enjoyed a walk from South Queensferry through Hopetoun estate. Good chat, great scenery and lots of fresh air! Our next day walk is on 23 November around North Berwick. Details to follow.

We had a grand time in the Lake District this month. Not great weather, but we got out into the hills each day and enjoyed great meals too (as always on Red Rope trips!). Our next trip is to the Cairngorms in November then we're off to the Angus Glens in December. New members welcome! 🥾

What a fantastic weekend in Torridon! Despite winter weather and strong winds, we all got out - climbed mountains, went kayaking, enjoyed wild swimming and gentle shore walks. Plus great food and a warm, comfy hut at Mol Mor, thanks to @n-t-s.bsky.social. To the Lake District for our October trip.

We had a great weekend away in Elphin recently, to the Grampian Speleological Club hut. We enjoyed a wide range of excursions: Conival & Ben More Assynt; Cul Mor; Cul Beag; Ben Hope; a plane wreck search; a coastal walk & swim and a cycle to Lochinver. Our next trip is to Torridon 18-21 September.
