My first paper on urban justice is out. It draws an analogy between gentrification and mass incoming migration, and shows that neighbourhoods receiving large numbers of needy migrants are treated unfairly, even if hosting needy migrants IS a requirement of justice/1

The topic was inspired by the work of @ewangibbs.bsky.social and the approach by the work of @handknit.bsky.social.

This year, I published (with Alfred Archer) a couple of things on the ethics of being a fan. First, there was this Aeon piece, which distills some of the key parts of Why It's OK to Be a Sports Fan and looks at the live issue of players behaving terribly: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Alfred publishes a lot of interesting stuff but I cannot recommend this one enough. Ever since I saw him presenting it, it became an all time favourite—I see applications of the notion of consigning to history everywhere, and I can’t wait to engage with it in my own work.
