Coupla things @yonahfreemark.com didn't cover: - Very few ppl *only* take the bus. IIRC ~40% if bus trips xfer to the subway. Any personal savings on PT would only be realized if ppl stop taking the subway completely, and people will still take taxis/rideshare or CitiBike, or drive their own cars.

The top issues we hear from riders here are bus overcrowding and bus frequency. When agencies address these two problems, they kick off a feedback loop that leads to better and better transit. Adding more buses is incredibly popular on both sides of the aisle (here) and can be done quickly. 2/
