Excited to share another great collaborative effort — we successfully combined single muscle fiber proteomics with functional assays in the same fiber! This integrated approach allows a direct link between molecular composition and functional performance at the single cell/fiber level.

I am excited to share our latest publication in Science Advances! We mapped the proteome of interstitial fluid across the leg in response to exhaustive exercise, and discovered immune cell derived peptide regulating muscle growth. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

5,562 proteins were found to have tissue-specific enrichment across 32 human tissues. ◼️ The majority of them (3,088) are enriched at the protein but not RNA level. 🧠 The brain hosts the largest number of proteins that are only enriched at the protein level but not RNA level.

Proteomics of body fluids like saliva offers immense potential for biomarker discovery, as saliva is easy to collect, non-invasive, and rich in secreted factors. Using a 21-minute MS method, we identified >4500 proteins highlighting saliva's untapped potential for diagnostics.
