For those attending #AMS2026, you'll note there aren't nearly as many NOAA/NWS folks as normal - largely driven by the impacts this administration has had on our field. Before the 1990s, plane crashes caused by microbursts used to kill planeloads of people fairly regularly. Dr. Ted Fujita and NCAR scientists figured out how to detect microbursts and warn pilots about them. Since then? Zero airliner crashes from microbursts.

One of the lessons I learned at UWM was that a unit’s financials were whatever leadership wanted them to be. Students could count toward credit hours or majors. Ready for giant pumpkin updates? I wasn't sure if I was going to have a season due to a late start, but I should pollinate a pumpkin tomorrow/Tuesday. The seed for this plant came from a 1454 pound pumpkin, but I'll be happy with 100-200 pounds, especially since time until frost is limited.
