Another new policy from the geniuses in NIH leadership. Apparently, ~70% of grant applications for most mechanisms will not be "triaged", i.e. not discussed at study section. This is an increase from the ~50% level that has been in place for many years. I don't know the rationale for this 1/13

According to a source, Jenna Norton, who led a letter criticizing Trump's decimation of the NIH (see below), has been placed on administrative leave. She's the first at NIH to be put on leave, joining EPA officials who criticized Trump policies.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will āvolunteerā for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
