My 35+ year old Bonsai pine developed a cone for the first time. It’s recovering after a much needed severe root prune this spring. Shocked it so maybe this explains it? When to remove it? Could I plant and grow it? Advice appreciated.

The govt just walked away from zonal pricing (a solid plan to cut everyone’s energy bills by 10-15%) with no alternative. The power of incumbency is huge, stifling growth, damaging our economy & making life harder for families. We were founded to challenge this & bring costs down. We won't stop.

Selling a car. Tried WBAC, Motorway, CarWow etc. “Your valuation is £(insert value) , tell us about your car for a more accurate figure” Tell them about over £1k worth of extras. “Your valuation is… exactly the same. What’s that about?

Most post Bonsai photos in Spring or Winter, new growth or bare branches look good. Here’s mine in midsummer. Oak just going crazy, hopefully thicker trunk will result. Hornbeam always pleases. “Happy Accident” still my favourite. Others not so good.

My maternal Grandparents clock. I’ve heard it tick & chime all my life. Passed to my Uncle after their death then when he died at 96 no one wanted it so it came home with me. I cleaned it, it lost time. So a month ago I tinkered with the pendulum. Took a week but it hasn’t lost a second since. 🕰️ ❤️

Just read the administrators report on Ripples demise. In a nutshell; Build a turbine, lose money. Build another 8, lose even more. Build a Solar farm, lose yet more. Try and build a huge wind farm… go bankrupt. What a 💩 show we let ourselves be conned by. 😠

Anyone else had a rebellious Bonsai? This Gingko was given to me over 25 years ago by an emigrating friend. It quite happily lived its Bonsai life until last year when it decided it wanted to be a real tree. I’ve given in and potted it until I find the right location for it.

I wonder if there is a Japanese word for a “happy accident”? This Bonsai was never meant to look this way. It once had a nice crown but fell from the bench in a storm. Many broken branches 😢, but I gave it a chance. I quite like its knobbly, windswept look. And the leaves have reduced nicely now.

Bonsai definitely requires patience. I grew this oak from an acorn, one of 8 collected from a tree outside the Bentley factory in Crewe around the Millennium. This is the first year it has had more than a dozen leaves. Just needs to thicken up a bit now.
