I'm seeing a lot of chatter about video podcasts and how they're just television shows, so I wanted to make a comment about how the 'pod' part of podcast means playable on demand, and that's the primary difference, so I went to fact-check it and... I'm wrong? I made this up in my own head somehow?

Putting the MLB Draft during the All-Star weekend was overall a good idea, not least because it sucked when guys would get drafted and immediately be called upon to throw 120 pitches in a Super Regional, but it's kind of lame to have this huge gap after all of my teams get eliminated.

My buddy Matt is nearly 100 days sober. He lost his home - and all of his tools - in the Altadena fires last year. FEMA failed him. He is doing everything he can, but he needs some help. Can we help him celebrate 100 days of sobriety with 100 donations? Any and all amounts help.

I don't want to give the impression that I think Cameron Sisneros is some hidden gem. I don't. But he's a lefty first baseman with one standout skill (plate discipline,) and that's a fun guy to get into the system and see if you can do something with.

One thing that occurs to me about MLB's draft proposals is that these teams would be pushing a lot of their costs onto publicly-funded colleges and universities, socializing their risk but privatizing their rewards. Can't quite put my finger on why that sounds so familiar.

Remember: every single proposal MLB makes is to reduce salaries. Unlike other industries in which employers have competing areas for spending (e.g. equipment, raw materials, and R&D) baseball has none of those expenses. The only competition for spending on salaries & player development is profit.
