Their werewolf form, even in the permas, mirror their human forms, such as the host's sex or eye (minus the whites of 'em turning dark), skin, & hair color & texture.

Pretty much most animals could tell them apart from regular/uninfected humans, to the point of extra aversion and/or defensive aggro, but pets & probably even livestock could tolerate their infected owners.

If the genes were to skip some generations, in naturally born ones, sure, while in the infected you'd best be quick in cutting off the bitten limb. Wolfsbane-based tonics/sedatives used early on will just be good at staving off for barely a year in either strain & keep the symptoms down.

Conventional weaponry can do them in if the inflicted injury's severe enough, so firearms high-caliber & high-velocity munition, potent toxins like wolfsbane, & hypothetically silver too with the metal's antimicrobial properties & high reactivity to biological molecules

The public doesn't currently know & view them as mythical, but with some infamously grisly incident occurring within Kielder resulting in the populace being rendered down into the double digits, their hiding will cease, the sun, the moon, the truth...

LET'S GOOO!!! Scientists just announced that they brought Trilobites back! After aeons of slumber, it's time to give them back the world they rightfully deserve :) That's why they're releasing a few million out into the wild!

They'll still possess eyeshine & canines (& more sharp teeth in older ones), along with being noticeably masc in build, big appetites which'll esp increase when it's close to shifting time, & even temporarily unhealed stretch marks briefly from the by-monthly ordeal of the shifts.

They're not picky eaters but do very much lean into high protein & caloric food items like animals, or even people due to the nasty case of horror hunger. The plus side is 24/7 delis & other fast food joints would likely be kept solvent thanks to the local werewolves, lol

Besides physical prowess & infective properties, they got good healing & senses of picking up pheromones & such, permas are also pretty long-lived, capable of living well over a century. Their vocal range can prolly even enter into infrasonic, so got powerwords of delirium/panic &/or even heal!

Both types are still very much sapient & themselves, just got strong/heightened instincts, with inhibitions died down, + with not being picky eaters who'll often get a nasty case of horror hunger, the desire to meet their metabolic demands can & will overwhelm any bonds with uninfected humans...

Permas are big facultative bipeds who stand 'bout 7 ft, knuckle-walkers, no rhinarium, fur coat & eye colors come in human tones, so the closest wolfy palette would be hazel eyes with grey hair. There're others that birthed myths of "werebears" & "Wereyotes/fops" thanks to Bergmann's & Allen's rules

With the permas there's a 50/50 change of one's body simply... unable to keep up with the taxing metamorphosis & thus perish, with the other types it's shifting with the worst place & time in the evening or getting the shift triggered in public by some assholes.

It's universally agonizing & something one doesn't fully get used to, just tolerable at best, permas r luckily with theirs ofc. Takes bout an hour for the back-n'-forthers, & at least a month or two for the permas (but typically a few/several months, esp if given wolfsbane-based tonics to help.

bi-monthly shift cycles (full moon ones r just coincidence, esp given it being the best night for folks to easily spot one) prompted by the supercharged mitochondria & flood of adrenaline, or when feeling threatened. even the most zen werewolf can only fast for a couple of months b4 needing to shift

Increased appetite, itchy skin, body temp rises, lessened inhibitions/strengthened instincts, then comes the agony whilst the brain copes by flooding the body with feel-good drugs, as the teeth & nails shed & fall out, & the skin produces stretch marks which'll surely bleed for their 1st time.

Through exposure to the Therovirus, originally from an eruption which put humanity into a bottleneck, & can be spread through both bodily fluids like saliva or blood, or be hereditary (the later method is esp helpful for perma-werewolves as non-naturally born individuals got a 50/50 fatality rate)

The Luretail Viper (Crotalus neonatus) is a species of large rainforest snake with a complex lure mechanism. It mimics the look and sound of a primate baby in distress to attract prey, striking when they get close. Tourists are advised not to listen to baby cries in the forest.
