I found that sending the manuscript to my Kindle and reading it on there really helps me spot passages that don't work, along with continuity errors and typos. I also print the first pass out (when it's typeset after the copy edit) and read it out loud. Slow and tedious, but hugely valuable.

Finished reading - THE SILVERBLOOD PROMISE by @jamesloganauthor.bsky.social . A thrill of a ride and a sense of adventure from the very beginning. A fun and easy read. Lots of tongue-in-cheek moments. And loved the sarcasm at times. A nice fantasy, that twists and turns like a roller coaster

‘Meta has stolen books’: authors to protest in London against AI trained using ‘shadow library’

The absolute state of this. I still pay my mortgage after The-Prime-Minister-Who-Lost-To-A-Lettuce tanked the economy, despite the eye-watering interest rates, because I know I'll face legal action if I don't. Why should it be any different for Meta (who, of course, also stole my novel).
