A wee blast of colour to brighten a gie dull Friday. Lauder's bar dates dates to 1871, when it was owned by whisky maker Archibald Lauder. Back then, the building had seven bars, and a barber's shop downstairs, meaning you could get a haircut while getting half-cut!

The second of my Asterix triptych and of course it is Obelix who fell into a cauldron of magic potion as a child and has unbelievable strength which offsets his somewhat silly attitudes in life. Again this is watercolours, acrylic gouache and marker pens.

Back in December I started work on a triptych homage to a favourite comic book series, Asterix. This is watercolours, acrylic gouache and marker pens. Asterix is a Franco-Belgian comic that first appeared in the comic Pilote in 1959 written by René Goscinny with art by Albert Uderzo.

Proofs of QUANTUM OF MENACE, the first mystery featuring Q from the Bond franchise, are out in the wild... If this is the proof, imagine how beautiful the hardback (out 23 Oct) will look! I shall say no more, merely encourage you to preorder: geni.us/quantumofmen...
