Paul McCartney so loved Jack Kirby’s work that he named a Wings song after two of Jack’s characters. When Jack heard about this, he drew an illustration of Paul and his wife Linda and hand delivered it to the concert venue Wings was performing at. Happy birthday, Sir Paul!

Tharg's Terror Tales: Milk & Honey by Kevin Cullen. Script by Mark Millar, letters by Annie Parkhouse. Just to show some appreciation for rare, brilliant and seemingly M.I.A. artist Kevin Cullen. Wherever he is now, he seems to have left Comics behind – a real shame and a great loss if so!

2000 AD Prog 2000 Cover, by Brian Bolland. Design by Steve Cook. It was Steve Cook's idea to base the cover on the iconic Iwo Jima flag-raising Marines photo (and Arlington statue). He then had to painstakingly Photoshop a pile of classic comics into Brian Bolland's artwork.

That time I got to work with the mighty Dave Gibbons: from 2000 AD Prog 2000, page 1 of Remembrance Day. Commissioned at the turn of the Millennium by then-Tharg David Bishop.

Since today is Peter Cushing's birthday and tomorrow is Christopher Lee and Vincent Price's, let's watch, as far as I'm aware, the only movie to have all three, the delightfully cheesy House of the Long Shadows (1983)

Tales Of Suspense no. 15 (Mar 1961) cover by Jack Kirby with Dick Ayers. I think I’d place Goom in my top 5 Kirby monsters… cool design. And later, his son, Googam, would return to earth to avenge him.

A few years ago I asked Alan Davis to recreate his classic cover from Captain Britain #1, for an issue of Marvel Fact Files. He did so amazingly – with a few subtle changes. Anti-clockwise from left: The Cherubim, Nocturne, Black Knight, Dai Thomas, Excalibur, Mastermind

Creatively, I’m a vegetable. Parenting and a collapsing house has made doing anything that isn’t well/promptly paid unjustifiable and it’s getting harder and harder. A friend advised me to keep sharing the last thing I made that I was proud of, so I’m doing that.
