I cannot yell about this enough. So many times I've seen an idea with lots of potential get thrown out because it wasn't "perfect" initially, only to be replaced with another underbaked idea, when we could have taken the same amount of time to reflect upon, tighten up and grow the first idea more.

the thing about gamedev (or any development really) is that there will always be a million ways that you could have done it better, and a million ways that your way is bad… but the point is that you actually ship something. perfection means it never gets done. so just make it! who cares how.

Somebody please explain why trade deficits are considered a bad thing by some? I run a huge trade deficit with my local supermarket. They have never bought a single one of my goods. But charging my wife 25% of the grocery bill is not the answer to this "problem".

Getting back into mini painting after 5 or more years of break. Discovered very quickly my eyesight has changed and I can no longer focus at the short ranges needed for mini painting, especially in slightly unoptimal light. Aging sucks. Bright desk light ordered. Opticians may follow.

I have succumbed to the temptation. I've finally purchased a robot vacuum for my house. Skynet incoming. Top tip for anyone programming direct interaction with the Lego Powered Up Hub. While the protocol docs don't mention it, if you spam messages to the hub too fast, it crashes the hub without generating an error response. You need to buffer up your sends to spread them out over time.

So I'm an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego). Being a software engineer as well, of course I want to combine it with my Lego building projects. I'm working on a Unity app for controlling the Lego Powered Up hub on my Lego trains. Learned a whole lot on Bluetooth protocols and the Lego Wireless Protocol.
