Today's sad sight: this 20-year-old banner for the 2006 MLB All-Star Game, which is still up for some reason.

Three hours to set up an environment to replicate and test an issue, fifteen minutes to actually fix it. Ain't computers great.

I don't know if going to protests does any good in the long run. Sometimes it seems like I'm just howling into the void, or at least into an echo chamber.

As someone who watches a lot of British panel shows, let me tell you, hearing the name "Jonathan Ross" all the time in a very different context is giving me a lot of tonal whiplash.

You know, I am not really a religious person but lately I find myself hoping that there is a god, if only so I can go to sleep at night knowing every goose-stepping functionary of the Trump administration will eventually burn in hell.

In 1897 "the Reverend Electrolycist" Prescott Ford Jernegan claimed he could extract gold from seawater for pennies on the dollar. It was a classic something for nothing scam... So why did so many people fall for it?

Remember, your drawing skills stopped where you last attempted to draw. That might be seven years old. Embrace it. It's fun to be a kid again. Ed Emberley drawing books will give you important dragon drawing skills (and help break you of the notion that you *can't* draw.)

I don't know why people have trouble seeing it but the "problem with the MCU" is that ENDGAME was, y'know, an ending. A really satisfying ending. The sort that does not leave the audience wanting more.

On the contrary. Tiny Tim (who did NOT die) lives on yet, a wizened, hunched thing of dried skin and withered sinew, milky-eyed and toothless. His every human contact is long severed by the merciless jaws of Time that refuse only him, and he curses the name of Scrooge every night. Merry Christmas!

Look, I realize the whole point of this speech is to get everyone to tune out so he can quietly drop the bullshit big news in the middle but JFC get to the point already. This is a campaign speech. Networks should be refusing to carry these lies live.

One would not expect a story of political intrigue featuring Niccolo Machiavelli and Cesare Borgia to be the most Christmassy story in a collection of Christmas stories... but that is exactly the case.

Part of me cynically thinks that the Pentagon has been slowly shifting to the term "warfighter" so they can make the semantic argument that they are not bound by rules covering "soldiers."

I love it when it's the end of the month and advertisihng companies start shoveling random ads everywhere. just to burn off views. Hulu becomes convinced I speak Spanish. Netflix starts showing me Korean car commercials. Podcasts feature ads for vape shops a thousand miles away.

Weird to think that the character of Thanos basically didn't exist before THANOS QUEST and INFINITY GAUNTLET. Sure, there's a character called Thanos running around two decades earlier but the differences are so profound that they are basically two separate characters.

White House Press Secretary may have once been an important role, but these days the job boils down to, "Lie to the press until they trap you in a contradiction and force you to resign in disgrace." Who would willingly sign up for that job? Why would the press think this farce was worth covering?

Reading through a CAPTAIN MARVEL collection and it includes an essay by Roy Thomas stating that the appeal of the character is that he is a blank slate that can be dropped into any story. Except who wants to read a story with a main character with less personality than a warm bowl of tapioca?
