I'm continuing to bet that caring about the details, purpose, a focus on process and assets/tools, and continuous improvement will beat making it up as one goes along + random word generators. If random word generators help, we will of course fit them into the process as just another tool

I'm least confident about 2, but as the diagram shows, if it really works, of course everyone is going to be using it. My strongly-held beliefs are that processes matter, tools are tools, and creating relationships is what matters most and that's a very human activity.

i keep thinking of what the tech ecosystem would be like now if they'd ever hired anyone from the humanities at any level above a receptionist they have no respect for expertise in How Humans Work, and it shows.

The landscape of technological history is *littered* with incredible technological innovations that died in the court of public opinion because the people who did it first tripped over the court of public opinion. And people like this have almost guaranteed this will be one of them.

It should have been the easiest fucking sell in the world! We all grew up on the science fiction stories of robot butlers and computers that sass you back! Literally the only thing required to be a success should have been "don't be a fucking creep and don't hit the uncanny valley"!

Data is a tool in this sense. We don't keep data for no reason (well we do, but the data I'm talking about is data that is worth improving).

I'm so angry at the entire ai field I don't even want to teach ml classes in this environment. Trying to get students to understand the limits of stat models while guys who know better are pushing "sky's the limit" for funding purposes is so demoralizing, data collection ethics are even harder

SPEED READ: Agentic AI is very cool and impressive. It's going to intimidate people that value control, e.g. LAWYERS. But you can build products around that. I worry about people jumping straight to agentic AI instead of fixing underlying bad processes. Beware of people replacing our brains.
